Group chats outgrow group chats.
Chatter started as a question: what if the running club, the apartment block and the weekend trek group didn’t have to live in one endless scroll? This concept gives every community a structured home — announcements that stay visible, side threads that don’t derail, and plans that survive the chat.
Designed end-to-end as a portfolio concept, tested with five community organizers.
Concept reviews — walking organizers through the first clickable prototype.
Refinement pass — tightening thread nesting and notification rules.
Structure without sterility.
Forums are organized but dead; chats are alive but chaotic. Organizers wanted both: the energy of chat with a memory. The design problem was hierarchy — how much structure can you add before a chat stops feeling like a chat?
- Announcements pinned above the fray, always glanceable
- Side threads that branch visually, then fold back
- Events with RSVPs that don’t need a separate app
A chat with a memory.
Three tabs carry the whole concept: Chat for the live pulse, Threads for anything worth keeping, and Plan for events and polls. A violet-on-dark visual language keeps night-time scrolling easy, and voice notes get auto-transcripts so nobody has to play a 4-minute ramble.
Organizers in testing planned a real trek using only the prototype — then asked when they could download it.
